2016 Dodge Viper ACR

Never let it be said that Dodge doesn’t know how to make competitive racing machines. Average consumers have been falling in love with models like the Dodge Challenger and Charger for decades, and with unparalleled specs and performance, the high-end Viper sports car speaks for itself. This June, Dodge’s engineering genius was confirmed yet again, when two breathtaking vehicles with Dodge branding achieved great things on the racing circuit.

Earlier this month, the Detroit Free Press reported that the Dodge Viper ACR was named the official pace car of the new M1 Concourse in Pontiac, MI, and will provide an assortment of high-speed vehicles to the M1 Motorsports Club. M1 is a huge performance racetrack that is opening up to auto enthusiasts everywhere on August 1, 2016, featuring private luxury garages, luxe restaurants, retail stores and more.

Dodge will add a Viper GTS, Charger SRT Hellcat and Challenger SRT Hellcat to the M1 Performance Fleet in exchange for a big advertising presence at the race track and facilities. This is a first, not just for Dodge but for all automakers — no other brand has earned a sponsorship deal with M1!

Less than two weeks later, at the 10th annual NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, OH, the Mopar Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car closed out the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series in first place. Driver Ron Capps unleashed the full fury of the HEMI® engine to do it, steering his vehicle to a razor-thin and absolutely thrilling victory against Courtney Force in her Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS.

According to a press release, Force had the lead at the beginning of race with a better start time than Capps, but Capps put the pedal to the metal and gained ground quickly. He finally pulled ahead in the final stretch before the finish line and crossed the line just .004 seconds ahead of his rival. Even with a head start, you can’t keep a HEMI engine down for long!

These major coups should erase any lingering doubts that Dodge does performance like no other company. If you want to see for yourself, pay a visit to our Dodge dealership in Natick, MA, and take a Dodge Charger or Challenger for a spin!
